Hosts in Oppland
Big adventures in nature, open spaces, ear deafening stillness in the night. These are the qualities that many Dutch enjoy so much that they want to share them with others. They’ve taken on the roll of host and invited others to Oppland.
Marie-José and Marco Robeerst have used all of their vacations for six years to shape their dream hotel at an old rural stead in the Valdres region. They moved to the village of Heggenes in 2007 and manage the distinctive small hotel called Herangtunet.
Betty and Rob van Kruining took over the Furulund Inn in Røn in the Vestre Slidre municipality in 2006. After almost a year of restoration this Dutch couple could welcome people to a place that tourists have been coming to since the early 1900s.
The Dutch have also been taking over and running traditional tourist lodging in Gudbrandsdal. Since 2005 Maarten and Berny Kroon have run the Amundsen Inn in the village of Vinstra. Here they serve home-cooked food based on fresh local ingredients including those from their own garden. In the Skjåk municipality Hendrika and Bertus van Harten have settled down with the goal of taking good care of the over hundred year-old Polifoss Hotel and guesthouse.
