Green Help from Poland
Scandinavia’s largest tulip nursery lies in Fall, a village in the southern part of Oppland. Stanislaw Krol is a department head in this modern nursery. He studied at an agricultural college in Warsaw, Poland and came to Norway in 2000 for practical experience. Now he is a specialist with responsibility for production of tulips from growing the bulbs to their market distribution.
He works primarily with Polish students who come to the nursery to get practical training, just he did himself. Stanislaw lives with his wife Elzbieta in Fall. He worked in England and France before he settled in Norway. He chose Norway because the country fascinates him.
The couple travels often. They have visited many countries around the world, but prefer to travel around Norway. They like the fresh air, the nature and landscapes.
Stanislaw feels that life in Norway is slower and more peaceful than in Poland. That suits him because there is less hunting after status and money here than in his homeland. Even though he hasn’t enough time for his hobby and misses the religious life in Poland, he says, “ If I wasn’t a Pole, and didn’t miss my family, friends, and my birth place so much, I would have chosen Norway as my homeland.”
